As safety-net providers, FQHCs provide essential care to their underserved clientele who can benefit measurably from improved access to specialty services through telemedicine. For this reason, telemedicine is often used in FQHCs across the country. Rural FQHCs can charge a facility fee for serving as the patient site (originating site). However, because of the fee structure of most FQHCs, they are not eligible to bill as provider sites (distant sites). HTRC partners have been active in helping various clinics to get up and running with telemedicine.
